Recently, I got the opportunity to interview Drizzy Dame (pictured) before his appearance at "Subby Sub: 2 Nite Only." This was exciting as it was the first interview I was able to conduct with the man, Unfortunately, the interview ended in something I can only describe as disaster formed from pure hatred and envy.
Transcript:
"Drizzy Dame, you’ve taken the industry by storm, with your album, “Drizzy Dame: Reborn.” But lately, people seem more interested in your relationship with your brother — the titular Subby Sub, who some might say made you. What’s your take on his success?"
DRIZZY DAME: Success? Let’s not romanticize the sun for rising every morning. Subby Sub didn't make me. I made Subby Sub. He lives in a spotlight I helped build. He’s got raw talent, sure. But talent without purpose is just noise. I gave him direction. I carved a path through this chaotic industry. He just floated down like a feather thinking he could fly like a bird.
"That’s… a bold way to describe family. Some say Subby Sub represents hope, a kind of purity that your work critiques. What do you say to those who think you’re the darker side of the same coin?"
DRIZZY DAME: They call him hope because they haven’t looked deeper. Hope is dangerous when it blinds people. He smiles, he saves, he sings — but he never asks why the world needs saving in the first place. That’s where I come in. I’m not here to play the role of some kind of… Superman of Music. I’m here to challenge the system — to deconstruct this Musical Messiah complex he thrives on. I am not the villain. I am the necessary correction. A man with purpose.
"So you don’t resent him?"
DRIZZY DAME: Resent him? No. I respect him. Like one respects gravity — it’s powerful, but it needs to be resisted if you want to rise. He’ll always be the glowing figure in the sky. But every light casts a shadow. And I am that shadow — sharper, colder, smarter. And when the world finally tires of the Subby Sub-Par, they’ll look to the man who built his empire with intellect, not illusion.
"Then why would you announce your appearance at Subby Sub: 2 Nite Only?"
DRIZZY DAME: I'm there to send a message. Subby Sub must've gotten me blacklisted, because I can't book a show anywhere. It's like I'm forced to appear at his stupid concerts. So, I'll be there. I'll bring my intellect, and finally, maybe the people will realize that every hero needs a villain. But I'm not that villain. The true villain is the one that acts as the hero. Subby Sub is that faux hero that nobody deserves, but they all want, no, I am the one the people deserve. But people care more for party tricks than talent. So let me be a reminder why the brain beats the brawn. This interview is over. (end transcript).
I was worried and concerned at Dame's random outburst, but he had left the building, and unfortunately, we could not track him down afterwards. One can only hope Drizzy Dame will concede and, maybe, be more respectful come his appearance at Subby Sub's concert.
