Recently, I got the opportunity to interview the one and only, Subby Sub's #1 Fan, Spencer Peterson! It was a pleasure to speak to him.

BUSHNELL: Good evening. My name is Sebastian Bushnell, and I'm here interviewing Subby Sub's biggest fan, Spencer Peterson. Spencer.

SPENCER: Good morning, Epcot.

BUSHNELL: Good morning, Spencer. As Subby Sub’s biggest fan, you are aware that he is performing July 26th, 2025? 

SPENCER: I'm more than aware.

BUSHNELL: And how do you feel about the show name “2 Nite Only?”

SPENCER: Well, I- I was a little confused at first because I thought it was gonna be two nights. So I'm a little disappointed that it's only one, but Subby Sub is Subby Sub nonetheless.

BUSHNELL: He is Subby Sub nonetheless. I- I believe after he announced his retirement at One Night Only, and came up with the catchy name “2 Nite Only”, he knew he had to come back for one night only, which in itself is confusing because the show is called “2 Nite Only”.

SPENCER: But one plus one is two.

BUSHNELL: One plus one is two. Spencer, at the last show, you made a shirt for Subby Sub.  any plans to make another Subby Sub esque shirt? 

SPENCER: There could be plans. There- there are shirts in the works.

BUSHNELL: There are shirts in the works. I'm excited to hear it, perhaps about some of his most iconic songs? 

SPENCER: Perhaps.

BUSHNELL: Perhaps. And speaking of iconic, when we think about Subby Sub, the sun that shines up the planet, the beauty of the earth, the bird that chirps in the forest, the waves that hit the beach softly at night time, low tide. When we think about Subby Sub and his iconic songs, which one comes to your mind?

SPENCER: You see, that's a tough one because Subby Sub does not miss. He's an archer with a bullseye. He hits every shot. 

BUSHNELL: He does.

SPENCER: If I were to guess, I would have to say, “Never See My Jacket Again.”

BUSHNELL: “Never See My Jacket Again.” His song that went diamond. His song that went diamond, spent fifty seven weeks at number one on the charts, beating every record set by the Beatles or Drake. “Never See My Jacket Again.”

SPENCER: I know.. I know it's the most- I know it's one of the most popular ones, but it's that way for a reason. Good things are good.

BUSHNELL: Good things are great.

SPENCER: Good things are great.

BUSHNELL: Good things are amazing. And- and what about “Never See My Jacket Again” settles with you?

SPENDER: Just the message. Like, he, you know, he had this jacket, Subby Sub, right? And then it was taken from him, and he thought he would never see it again, and he couldn't find it. 

BUSHNELL: There's something poetic about that. 

SPENCER: It- it really is poetic.

BUSHNELL: And if he were to bring out the jacket on the night of the show, how would you feel? 

SPENCER: Well, if there's even a chance of that happening, I'm not sure there's a way to get the jacket back. I thought nobody knows where it is. But if that were somehow happened by some miracle, I- I don't know. I'd lose it. It would blow my mind.

BUSHNELL: It'd bring people to tears even. It would stop wars. It would stop conflicts.

SPENCER: I think every conflict, everywhere in the world, everywhere in the universe would be stopped.

BUSHNELL: If Subby Sub found his jacket?

SPENCER: Yeah.

BUSHNELL: And- and finally, my final question, the show, it's in a few days. What are you looking forward to the most?

SPENCER: I mean, obviously, Subby Sub's performance. It's- it's bittersweet though as this has been called his retirement performance, but, you know, it should still be good.

BUSHNELL: It should still still be good. IWe are holding out for the idea that Subby Sub will return. My name has been Sebastian Bushnell. This has been Subby Sub's biggest fan, Spencer Peterson, and we are wishing you a fantastic night. (end transcription)
